Eubank vs. Benn Undercard: Eddie Hearn Reveals Missed Opportunity for Adam Azim
Eubank vs. Benn Undercard: Eddie Hearn Reveals Missed Opportunity for Adam Azim
Conor Benn vs. Chris Eubank Jr. will finally take place on April 26 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It’s a simmering rival that will finally reach boiling point. They were originally supposed to meet in 2022, but the fight fell apart at the eleventh hour due to two failed tests from Benn.
Towards the end of 2024, Benn released a statement via his X account, claiming he had been cleared. The UK Anti-Doping and British Board of Boxing Control then decided not to appeal the decision to life his suspension and now his huge return will take place in April. The undercard has been revealed, but Adam Azim won’t be on the card and Eddie Hearn has revealed details when speaking to Colm McGuigan at iFLTV.
Eddie Hearn Discusses Missed Opportunity for Adam Azim
Hearn Talks Adam Azim vs. Dalton Smith
When speaking to iFLTV, Hearn revealed: “The reality is, we tried to make the Adam Azim fight (vs. Dalton Smith) for Eubank-Benn.”
“Ben Shalom wanted Adam Azeem to fight on the Benn-Eubank card. They cleared it. We know he has his fight (vs Sergey Lipinets), then he has Ramadam. He was happy to go on April 26. I said let’s do the Dalton Smith Fight,” added Hearn.

Hearn then revealed Shalom’s response: “Oh, no, no, no, it’s not enough preparation.” With Azim fighting on February 1 and Ramadan fast approaching, BOXXER felt this was insufficient preparation for their fighter.
Hearn added: “You can’t beat Dalton Smith in a million years.”
Other Names Offered for Adam Azim
The Matchroom Sport chairman disclosed: “We made Adam Azeem vs. Montana Love; done for April 26.”
Hearn also said that the Montana Love fight collapsed, and the subsequent names offered by BOXXER were: “turned down by Saudi.”

Fascinatingly, Eddie then said: “Saudi came back with Pierce O’Leary, and we put forward Sean McComb, and they rejected both fighters.”
“You can’t keep piping up on Twitter, calling his name if you just won’t fight him.”
“They are just not ready for Dalton Smith.”
