WBO welterweight world champion Devin Haney (33-0, 15 KOs, 1 NC) has been given 20 days to reach an agreement with Keyshawn Davis (15-0, 10 KOs, 1 NC), his mandatory challenger.

The sanctioning body made the order on Tuesday. Both men will have 20 days to enter negotiations and come to an agreement on facing each other for the WBO welterweight world title. Upon confirming that they have reached an agreement, they will have an additional 10 days to provide bout agreements along with the official date of the contest and venue. Failure to do so would see the WBO order a purse bid.

Haney won the WBO world title in November last year against Brian Norman Jr. He has yet to make a defence of the belt.

Devin Haney ordered to face Keyshawn Davis

Luis Batista Salas, WBO founder and championship committee chairman, was the one who sent the letter ordering the bout to the teams of Haney and Davis.

“Please be advised that, pursuant to the authority vested in the World Boxing Organization (“WBO”) Championship Committee under the WBO Regulations of World Championship Contests, the Committee hereby orders the immediate commencement of negotiations for the WBO Welterweight Mandatory Championship Contest between reigning WBO Welterweight Champion Devin Haney and the WBO’s number one world-rated contender, Mandatory Challenger, Keyshawn Davis,” read the letter.

Both boxers also appear to be willing to make the fight happen.

“Haney VS Davis,” wrote Haney in a post to X. Roughly an hour later he quote reposted it with the word “Key,” appearing to refer to his mandatory challenger.

“Yessir,” wrote Davis in a quote repost of Haney alongside a star emoji and a fingers crossed emoji on X.

With the order being made and both fighters appearing to be willing to fight each other, it may not be long before an official announcement is made.
