Lewis Crocker vs Liam Paro: Lewis Crocker lands left hand against Paddy Donovan

On June 24, at the Pat Rafter Arena in Tennyson, Queensland, Lewis Crocker vs Liam Paro will meet for Crocker’s IBF welterweight world title. The entire card will be promoted by No Limit Boxing, live on Kayo Sports. Ahead of this world title fight, renowned boxing commentator and trainer Teddy Atlas has made his pick via his Ropes community.

Lewis Crocker vs Liam Paro set for June 24

Crocker (22-0, 11 KOs) came through a tough test against Conah Walker, winning by unanimous decision with scorecards of 96-93 x2, and 95-94. Many felt Walker had done enough to win, but the judges favoured the work from Crocker.

After that win, he faced Paddy Donovan and was thoroughly outboxed before Donovan hit him after the bell, resulting in the referee disqualifying Donovan due to one too many infractions. The rematch between the two followed and was full of action once again, with Crocker stunning Donovan, knocking him down twice, before being awarded a split decision to win the IBF title, with scorecards of 115-111 to Donovan, while the other two scored it 114-112 and 114-113 for Crocker.

Paro (27-1, 16 KOs) won the IBF super lightweight world title against Subriel Matias, before losing the title to Richardson Hitchins. Since then, Paro has defeated Jonathan Navarro and David Papot, before accepting the opportunity to face Crocker for the IBF welterweight belt.

Teddy Atlas makes his pick for Lewis Crocker vs Liam Paro

Looking ahead to Lewis Crocker vs Liam Paro, Atlas summarised the strengths of Paro: “The more complete fighter with the home crowd and who has fought the better opposition, but he has been hurt before, and Crocker can hurt him. Both have been cut before.”

Atlas then summarised the matchup:

“His power vs the volume and jab of Paro and the home crowd. I believe Crocker’s best chance to win is to hurt or KO Paro with a big shot; otherwise, I see Paro outworking him. Cuts could come into play.”

“The oddsmakers have it right as a competitive fight with the home favorite as a -150 favorite & Crocker at just +125. The safest play and my pick is Paro to win -150, and I would back that up with a small play at +225 that the fight does not go the distance,” wrote Atlas.
