Canelo Álvarez Opens Door to Super Fight and Saudi Collaboration
Super middleweight king and unified world champion Canelo Álvarez was last seen in the ring, defeating unbeaten contender Edgar Berlanga by unanimous decision on September 14. Following any victory for the Mexican, attention quickly turns to what comes next for the former undisputed champion. Canelo has been asked on numerous occasions about facing Terence Crawford and working with Turki Alalshikh. While at the grand opening of a Mexican restaurant in Chula Vista, California, the Mexican superstar spoke to media members about his future plans.

Álvarez Opens Up About Future Plans and Working With Saudi
In the past, Canelo has appeared dismissive when asked about facing Crawford and working with Riyadh Season, but it now appears the door is ajar for a super fight with the American.
Despite the difference in weight, “Bud” has been vocal about wanting to face Álvarez, with Turki Alalshikh also making it clear he wants to see this super fight. On the same night as Canelo-Berlanga, Crawford and His Excellency were at the Sphere UFC 306, with both delivering a message to the Mexican via Crawford’s Instagram account. On the video, the Omaha native asked Alalshikh: “Tell them we going for Canelo Next”

Alalshikh responded with vigour: “Yes, let’s go. Canelo come on. We are ready.”
The video then returned to Crawford, who said: “Just put in the game coach, just put me in the game.”
He added: “Canelo-Crawford, the biggest fight in the boxing world.”
Canelo Álvarez vs. Terence Crawford: Open to Business
When asked in Chula Vista whether he is open to working with His Excellency and facing Crawford: “I never say no to business,” Alvarez said. “So if it’s business for me, I’m open to talk, no matter what,” said the Mexican superstar.
Canelo did make it clear, he’s not ready to start negotiations until January: “Now, I’m working on other things. Now, I’m enjoying my family,” Alvarez said. “I’m not talking about boxing yet. So, maybe in January, we’re going to start doing that.”

Álvarez also didn’t shut the door on potentially facing Jake Paul and gaining revenge for Mike Tyson: “I feel sad about what I saw from Mike Tyson because, at his age (58) and everything, he can’t do that kind of stuff,” Alvarez said. He continued: “But, you know, it’s business for them. It’s fine, whatever. I thought about (seeking revenge for Tyson) when I saw the fight,when I saw the injustice. But we’ll see.”
