Tim Tszyu sends warning to Errol Spence: ‘You should’ve taken a warmup fight’
On July 25, at the Olympic Park, Qudos, New South Wales, in Sydney, Tim Tszyu vs Errol Spence headlines a No Limit Boxing fight card, in association with The Rose Brothers, Man Down Promotions, and TGB Promotions. This is an intriguing matchup to see who has what left in the tank, not only to win the fight but also to move on to bigger opportunities. Ahead of this 158-pound catchweight clash, Tszyu spoke to The Ring, sending a bold warning to his American opponent.

Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) was considered elite by many, recording standout wins against Kell Brook and Shawn Porter, among others. His comprehensive defeat to Terence Crawford and two serious car crashes have led to long periods out of the ring, which have hampered his career in more recent times.
Tszyu (27-3, 18 KOs) has had plenty of ups and downs during his career, defeating good fighters such as Terrell Gausha and Tony Harrison. His two defeats against Sebastian Fundora and his tough stoppage loss to Bakhram Murtazaliev have led many to doubt whether the Australian fighter belongs at the world level. He has made a number of recent changes to his team, with Jeff Fenech recently taking over as lead trainer.
Tim Tszyu vs Errol Spence: Tszyu warns American ahead of July 25
Errol Spence has not fought since July 2023, and many expected him to take a warm-up fight before facing Tszyu. Speaking to The Ring, Tszyu was asked if he was surprised Spence would not be taking a warm-up fight: “To a certain extent,” said Tszyu.
“But I know the type of fighter he is. He likes to take on hard challenges, but I’m gonna give him that regret feeling. You should’ve taken a warmup fight,” added Tszyu.
Tszyu also laid out his intentions for July 25: “The biggest thing for me is to test his heart,” said the Australian.
“How bad does he want it? When you’ve been there, done that in the sport, you’re sort of like, ‘Do I need to do this? Do I need to keep on going?’ I want to test when he starts talking to himself.”
