Looking Back at Maxi Hughes Before William Zepeda vs. Giovanni Cabrera

In his last fight on March 16, 2024, against Maxi Hughes, Zepeda quickly adjusted to the promising start by the Brit – letting his jab go, and putting together some impressive fast combinations. The second round saw the Mexican southpaw increase his output, with Hughes struggling to live with the fight’s pace.

The Brit tried to work on his timing, but the speed of Zepedas punches was overwhelming him. The domination was there for all to see and continued throughout rounds three and four, which resulted in the corner of Hughes calling the fight off before round five began.

Mercito Gesta

On September 16 last year, Zepeda set the pace early, keeping Mercito Gesta on the back foot. The Mexican fighter was switching between the head and body with apparent ease. “Camaron” was relentless, cutting off the ring and landing on his opponent almost at will.

Gesta was brave and tried to fire back, but again, the sheer volume of punches and accuracy from the Mexican southpaw. The referee and the corner hinted at stopping the fight after the fifth – but the domination from Zepeda continued in the sixth as he unloaded on Gesta, who could not fire back, resulting in the referee waving the fight off.

Jaime Arboleda

William Zepeda recorded another stoppage win against Jaime Arboleda on April 29, 2023. Zepeda showed his ability to cut off the ring from the first round, which saw him catch Arboleda with a heavy straight left, which rocked his opponent.

The second round saw the domination continue, with a brutal body shot from Zepeda – scoring the first knockdown of the fight. More impressive work to the body from “Camaron” saw another knockdown come quickly, which led to further shots to the body, scoring a third knockdown, leaving Arboleda unable to beat the count.

Zepeda is a handful for any lightweight fighter, with his aggressive style and fast hands, and all eyes turn to July 6 as William Zepeda faces Giovanni Cabrera.
