Tim Tszyu Next Fight: Plans for Rematch Revealed
Tim Tszyu recently returned to action, defeating Joey Spencer. This win followed back-to-back defeats against Sebastian Fundora and Bakhram Murtazaliev. The Tim Tszyu next fight would seemingly be against Keith Thurman, but it now appears PBC and No Limit have changed their plans with the Aussie set to face an old adversary as reported by Dan Rafael.

Tim Tszyu Next Fight: PBC and No Limit Pivot Toward Rematch
In his Fight Freaks Unite Substack, Dan Rafael reports that the plans for Tim Tszyu and Sebastian Fundora have changed. It was expected that Tszyu would face Keith Thurman and unified WBC/WBO champion Fundora would face mandatory challenger Xander Zayas. These initial plans have pivoted toward a rematch between Fundora (22-1-1, 14 KOs) and Tszyu (25-2, 18 KOs).

These new plans were confirmed to FFU by Fundora’s promoter Sampson Lewkowicz and Tszyu’s promoter George Rose of No Limit Boxing. The exact date and venue are to be confirmed, but it’s further revealed by Rafael that it could take place as early as July 19 headlining a PBC on Prime Video pay-per-view or in August. It is also likely that whatever date is finalised for Fundora-Tszyu 2, we will see Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach 2 on the other date.
Tim Tszyu Next Fight: Change of Plans
PBC had been in talks with Zayas promoter Top Rank about a summer fight – after Zayas joined Fundora in the ring following his win against Chordale Booker. Both fighters also spoke positively about the potential bout in the post-fight press conference.
Zayas-Fundora was scheduled to go to a purse bid on Friday in Las Vegas before Team Fundora withdrew to pursue the Tszyu rematch. “The Towering Inferno” will need to vacate the WBO belt or be stripped and defend his WBC crown against Tszyu.
Rose said regarding the rematch: “We exercised the rematch (but we’re) still working on date, July or August and location as well,” Rose said. “I think the rematch will be great after one of the memorable fights of last year.”

Lewkowicz said on the change of plans: “After the first fight the Fundora-Tszyu rematch is the fight that everyone wants to see. We were in talks for the Zayas fight but the rematch is a much bigger fight. It’s a bigger fight for us and bigger than any other Tszyu fight, so we are going in another direction from Zayas.”
“Zayas is a very good fighter and we wish him good luck. Tszyu had the right to a rematch, he wants it and so do we — and the people want to see it. We never know the future but maybe we see Zayas in the future.”
WBO Picture
The WBO title will become available should Fundora-Tszyu be made as expected. Xander Zayas (21-0, 13 KOs) will then be ordered to begin talks with Jorge Garcia Perez (33-4, 26 KOs) to reach an agreement for the two to fight for the vacant title. Perez is in line for a title shot following his upset win over Charles Conwell on April 19.
Plans are changing, but Fundora-Tszyu 2 should provide plenty of fireworks.
