British Fighter Believes He Can Beat the Best to Become World Bantamweight Champion

On July 20, Andrew Cain had the best moment in his career to date, dismantling Ashley Lane (18-11-2, 3 KOs), stopping him in round five, with heavy accurate combinations, which led to a TKO victory. That win gave the Liverpudlian the British and Commonwealth bantamweight titles, with many tipping the ferocious puncher for bigger opportunities. He will make his first defence on the undercard of Nick Ball vs. Ronny Rios on October 5 against Joshua John. When speaking to BoxingScene, Cain spoke about his win over Lane – and the confidence he has to reach the top.

Cain Exhudes Confidence in Reaching the Top

Cain’s victory over Lane was decisive and dominating and when speaking to BoxingScene, the Liverpudlian said: “I was just enjoying it. I feel like I could have got him out of there a lot earlier but I didn’t want it to end really.” He continued: “I knew I’d get to him. I just wanted to carry on and carry on. I was enjoying it.”

The Liverpool native also spoke about the future and revealed the belief he has in himself: “To be honest, I know I’m capable of being a world champion, and that’s something I’ve always believed in since I was a little kid.”

Cain added: “I don’t need to beat Ashley Lane and win a nice shiny belt to know that. I’m going into these fights knowing that I’m a world-class fighter and knowing that I can become a world champion against anybody.”

Rest of the Card

The undercard, away from Cain already has some intriguing appearances confirmed. The talented, undefeated super lightweight fighter Henry Turner will take on fellow undefeated boxer Jack Rafferty for the Commonwealth, WBC International Silver and vacant British Super-Lightweight titles.

Also on the card, we will see the exciting Cuban sensation Jadier Herrera, alongside Brad Strand, Jack Turner and Morecambe’s Nelson Birchall.
