Katie Taylor vs. Delfine Persoon II
Taylor and Delfine Persoon had already faced off in 2019, with Taylor winning a controversial points decision, where two judges scored the bout 96–94 while the third judge scored it a draw at 95–95. Both fighters decided to settle this rivalry once and for all. Taylor started well, landing eye-catching combinations, and continued her work into the later rounds, which saw her do enough to secure a unanimous decision win.

Following a routine defence of her lightweight titles against Miriam Gutierrez, Taylor faced off against her opponent from the 2012 Olympic Games, Natasha Jonas. Taylor entered the ring at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia as the WBA and IBF lightweight champion, hunting down a unification clash against Persoon. The Irish fighter put on a masterful performance against Rose Volante for the WBO lightweight title. Taylor made her usual bright start, landing impressive combinations, which resulted in her flooring Volante in the first round. She continued to hand out vicious punishment to Volante with a monster left hook landing in the fifth round. Taylor continued her work into the ninth round, putting together a flurry of punches, which forced the referee to step in and award the Irish fighter the victory via TKO.

Taylor rallied late on in eye-catching fashion to retain her titles via split decision 94–96, 97–93, and 96–93. Eddie Hearn described the fight after as “a moment in time,” and it was the moment in time that women’s boxing had been waiting for, a fight for the ages.
