Recapping a Busy Year for Munguía
Munguía, a former super welterweight world champion has enjoyed an active 2024, which began with an impressive dominant knockout victory against John Ryder, which had many comparing this performance against that of Canelo Álvarez, who had defeated the Englishman by unanimous decision.
He then faced Canelo in a huge Mexico vs. Mexico clash for the undisputed super middleweight crown, with Álvarez coming out on top by unanimous decision. The 28-year-old bounced back in September, defeating Erik Bazinyan by tenth round KO.
Surace will fight outside France for the first time and is somewhat of an unknown quantity. He will be returning after a year out of the ring since his last-round TKO win over Jhon Jader Obregon.

Munguía, when reacting to the news, said: “I’m very happy to be back in the ring and, above all, to be back in Tijuana. This year has been full of hard work and great fights, which has only motivated me to keep pushing forward. I want to give Tijuana a great night of boxing and thank everyone there for always being by my side and supporting me. It won’t be an easy fight, but we’re confident we’ll come out on top. Viva Mexico and Viva Tijuana!”
