Golovkin on Canelo- ‘Explore better options’

Gennadiy “GGG”  Golovkin is in action this Saturday night at the usual stomping grounds of Madison Square Garden taking on  Sergiy Derevyanchenko for the vacant IBF and IBO titles. Despite that being his next contest that kicks off the fight season on the streaming service DAZN, a straightforward question rears its head for Golovkin time and time again.

When will Golovkin take on Canelo Alvarez for the third time?

Speaking with the media before yesterday’s press conference, Golovkin reminded the reporters to ask something else.

“I’m not tired,” Golovkin said of answering questions about Alvarez. “But it’s interesting for me to observe you, asking those questions on and on and on again. We have a lot of different things to talk about. We have a lot of interesting subjects, topics, and you asking about Canelo tells something about you as journalists. Explore better options. Ask more interesting questions. I think it’s your problem, not mine.

Golovkin would rather talk about anything else besides a fight many in the boxing world would take place since both signed exclusive deals to the streaming DAZN platform. Golovkin does means business about talking anything else, however.

In an interview with Business Insider, Golovkin went as far as to talk about things not on the planet Earth when the Canelo question came up.

“I really know more about satellites and space than about Canelo,” Golovkin said to Business Insider.  “Let’s see what kind of results he’ll have in his next fight. Let’s wait for his next fight and then we’ll come back to this question (about why he’s refused).”

The distancing itself of the subject is maybe the one thing both Golovkin and Alvarez at this time seem eye to eye on.
When speaking at his press conference about the fight with Sergey Kovalev, Alvarez stated that his promoter Oscar De La Hoya says “many things that don’t make any sense” in response to him saying the third fight will definitely happen.

Both Golovkin  and Alvarez are trying to travel different paths, only time will tell if these two roads will cross again.
