Roy Jones Jr: Tommy Fury at Queensberry press conference

Roy Jones Jr, in his prime, was a joy to watch. His hand speed was electric, his reflexes otherworldly, and his knockout power the pièce de résistance. He was so unorthodox and elusive to his opponents. He unfortunately fought well past his prime, which led to losses to fighters who honestly don’t deserve to share the ring with him. It now appears Jones Jr is not against a return, naming his price to fight Tommy Fury, while giving his honest take on Fury fighting Eddie Hall, during an interview with Betting Lounge.

Tommy Fury vs Eddie Hall: Roy Jones Jr gives his honest take

When Tommy Fury vs Eddie Hall was announced for June 13, it made it clear where Fury sees his future in boxing. His exhibition bout with Hall will be over six two-minute rounds. His best win is still the hard-fought split-decision victory over Jake Paul in 2023.

When Jones Jr was asked what he made of Fury fighting Eddie Hall, the world’s strongest man, he said:

“For Tommy Fury, the legacy is the money. He would never have made this kind of money in regular boxing. So he was smart, he found his niche and he capitalised on it. His brother is the boxing guy. He’s more like the Misfits guy, and he’s making a lot of money doing the smart thing, fighting on the Misfits shows.”

Jones Jr reveals his number to fight Fury

A fight between Jones Jr and Fury was discussed back in 2023, but the bout never came to fruition. Speaking to Betting Lounge, Jones Jr revealed the fight is not dead, before naming his price:

“Is me vs. Tommy Fury dead? Nothing’s dead forever. Roy Jones is still alive, Tommy Fury is still alive. Nothing’s dead forever. Who knows? For the right money, it would force me into the gym to prepare, yes.

“If they give me $10 million, of course. Ten and upwards, yes. If they don’t give me $10 million and upwards, no. I’m not wasting my time.”
