Osleys Iglesias (15-0, 14 KOs) soon puts his IBF super middleweight world title on the line against Oliver Zaren (19-0-1, 8 KOs).
Their fight headlines an Eye of the Tiger Management (EOTTM) card at the Théâtre Capitole in Québec City, Canada. Those in the province of Québec will be able to catch the action live on Punching Grace. The rest of the world will be able to do so with DAZN.
Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their Oct. 8 contest. Below is some of what they had to say.
Osleys Iglesias vs. Oliver Zaren quotes
Osleys Iglesias
“Well, here we are once again to show what we’re made of,” said Iglesias in Spanish. “Thank you to Oliver for being here. May [fight night] be a good night and we both leave it healthy, which is the most important thing. As I’ve always said, we put in good training and the hard work is done. Now we just have to prove it and I shall remain world champion Thursday the eighth.”
Oliver Zaren
“I’m looking forward to this fight,” said Zaren. “I know there’s a lot of doubters out there, but at the end of the day it’s just a fight. You know, I’m going to bring the dog fight to him. I ain’t scared of nobody. I’ll show that Thursday night. I’m going to bring the fight to him. I’m coming to Canada. I’m not here to take part. I’m here to take over. So it’s going to be a great fight Thursday night. Remember the name.”
Fight prediction
From Big Fight Weekend’s Ricky Carroll: The Cuban is an aggressive front-foot fighter and has proven his outstanding ability to finish a fight. He doesn’t rush his work, but when he sees that opening, he takes full advantage. “El Tornado” is relentless, fighting off the front foot, throwing everything with intent. His amateur pedigree shines through when you see how he picks his punches and controls the distance.
Zaren is adaptable in the ring, but will seemingly look to keep this long and avoid letting Iglesias get too close. He will need to get his jab going and use that to stop Iglesias from closing the distance and setting his feet. He’s a methodical fighter and needs to stay organised and pick his moments against someone as dangerous as Iglesias.
Iglesias vs. Zaren is a clash of styles, and no matter how disciplined Zaren stays, it’s difficult not to see the Cuban getting to him and obtaining another KO win. We are predicting Iglesias to win by stoppage between rounds 6-9.
