On October 10 at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Floyd Schofield will face Lucas Bahdi for the vacant WBA lightweight title.  The entire card will be promoted by Golden Boy Promotions in co-promotion with Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), live on DAZN. Floyd Schofield Sr recently spoke to Fight Hub TV, revealing his true thoughts on a potential fight between his son and Shakur Stevenson.

Floyd Schofield Sr makes bold Shakur Stevenson claim

Schofield (19-0, 13 KOs) has looked impressive throughout his professional career, including a first-round stoppage win over the experienced Tevin Farmer. He and his dad have been outspoken about how far they believe he can go, and the opportunity to fight for a vacant world title. A win here will create plenty of opportunities for “Kid Austin.”

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Floyd Schofield Sr made it clear he believes Shakur Stevenson would never fight his son:

“Shakur (25-0, 11 KOs) would never fight Kid. One, because Shakur doesn’t have enough power. Someone with 10 knockouts is not gonna keep Kid Austin’s style off of him. He doesn’t have enough power to stop Kid.

“Nobody’s going to sit there waiting for him to sit there with them flicking shots. I watched what Kid did to Shakur,” said Schofield Sr.

“They know what Kid could do. There was a reason things happened in Saudi the way they happened, and everybody decided to come out and lie in interviews. And people will come out lying, saying it was mushrooms. But when the toxicology came out, when I gave the toxicology report and it said illegal drugs, why didn’t anybody get on TV then and say what happened then?

“It wasn’t mushrooms. He didn’t pull out. The British board pulled him out. He really was poisoned. Why did everybody in the media go quiet then? Y’all seen Shakur’s interviews talking about how he pulled out because he was scared? Shakur was the first person I messaged. I got the texts. I even put the text messages up there asking why they poisoned my son,”added Schofield Sr.

The Big Fight Weekend verdict

Schofield is undoubtedly a talented fighter. His hand speed and power stand out. A knockdown against Rene Tellez Giron showed he has the ability to come through difficult moments. He controls the distance well in his fights and picks his punches impressively.

His best win came against Farmer, and we need to see Schofield mix it up at a higher level to see just how far he can go. A win over Bahdi will become his best success, and it should lead to bigger opportunities, including unification bouts.

There is no doubting the potential is there, but we need to see “Kid Austin” active and facing the best opposition.
