Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua: Josh Taylor gives his honest breakdown
Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua feels like season 2 of your favourite show that might never come. However, Turki Alalshikh has confirmed we can expect to see Fury vs AJ on a date and at a venue to be confirmed. Both fighters have decided to have a warm-up fight before their likely showdown later this year.
Joshua will face Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. After some rumours about when and who he would face, it has now been revealed that “The Gypsy King” will face Polish heavyweight Mariusz Wach on July 24 in Thailand. Many in the sport have had their opinions on who would win, and former undisputed super lightweight world champion Josh Taylor is the latest to give his honest breakdown of the potential showdown.
Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua: Turki Alalshikh reveals latest venue news
Joshua (29-4, 26 KOs) was last seen in the ring at the end of 2025, stopping Jake Paul in the sixth round. Not long after, Joshua was involved in a devastating car crash in Nigeria, which claimed the lives of his two close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele. It’s an achievement that he’s even stepping into the ring on July 25, let alone targeting a huge fight with Fury.
Fury (35-2-1, 24 KOs) was back in action on April 11, 2026, defeating Arslanbek Makhmudov, his first fight in 15 months. He lost twice to Oleksandr Usyk, leading him to announce his retirement from professional boxing after the rematch loss against the Ukrainian.
Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua is reliant on both coming through their fights, which should then lead to a date and venue announcement, which appears up in the air. Turki Alalshikh recently announced via his X account: “Hopefully a positive statement from the Mayor of London’s office about a later start time if Fury v Joshua is in London, as so far we have been told it is not possible.”
It remains to be seen if these start-time issues will be resolved or if this huge fight for British boxing inexplicably ends up across the pond.
Josh Taylor breaks down Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua
Speaking to Seconds Out, Taylor gave his honest take on Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua:
“Fury’s just the much better boxer. He’s got the better boxing IQ, can move, can switch, can fight on the inside, can grab hold and wrestle you. He can do it all, Fury, and he’s pretty mobile and agile.
“Joshua is your big heavyweight. The big muscle-bound heavyweight: if he catches you, you’re out. His boxing IQ’s not that great. His footwork and his ring IQ are not that great. But he can hold; he’s got that presence in the ring, and he’s huge, and he’s strong. He punches hard; he’s got that presence; he’s got that huge trump card. So, it kind of evens up the playing field a little bit, but I just think Fury could, would have in their primes, have played with him quite easily.”
