Callum Simpson vs. Steed Woodall: Press Conference Quotes and Fight Prediction

Callum Simpson (15-0, 10 KOs) will soon defend his titles against fellow Brit Steed Woodall (19-2-1, 12 KOs).

Their fight headlines a BOXXER card at the Park Community Arena in Sheffield, England. Boxing fans in the United Kingdom and Ireland can catch the action live on Sky Sports. Those in the United States can do so with Peacock.

Simpson is the reigning British and Commonwealth super middleweight champion. He won both titles following a unanimous decision win over Zak Chelli in August last year. Ahead of his defence against Woodall on January 11, both men spoke at a press conference. Below is some of what they had to say.

Callum Simpson vs. Steed Woodall Press Conference Quotes

Callum Simpson

“I love it to be honest, mate,” said Simpson about now being the one pursued by other boxers. “I love it. It’s tough at the top as they say. Another sold out crowd. Back-to-back headline, sold-out event. Grateful for BOXXER [for] giving me the opportunity, Sky Sports [for] giving [me] a massive opportunity. So yeah, looking forward to Saturday night.”

Steed Woodall

“It’s been a long road to get here,” said Woodall. “The small following that I do have know what I’ve been through to get here and they know just how hungry I am, why I’m here today and why I deserve to be here. The fact that literally everyone has written me off again, I absolutely love it. Including yourself [presenter Andy Scott] in the [Natasha Jonas vs. Ivana Habazin broadcast]. Everyone was ripping me to bits, looking past it, talking to [Mark] Jeffers and all that stuff. Actually, it was only Callum [Simpson] that showed me respect during that whole thing and I’m here to show why I deserve to be here.”

Fight Prediction

BOXXER have spent time guiding Simpson’s career and he has become one of their better-known talents. The fight against Woodall appears to be one where they hope he continues to showcase his talents and do so in impressive form. In his only bout last year, Woodall stopped Lerrone Richards in an upset. While he is a talented fighter in his own right, expect this to be a showcase for Simpson as he aims to progress in his career. Simpson winning by a late stoppage is our prediction.
