Looking at what Bivol needs to do better in the rematch: “He has to get the rub of the green from the judges,” said Hearn.

“But clearly, he has to win rounds more convincingly. I mean, I had him winning those rounds and after nine rounds, I thought he was miles up, but he probably did lose (rounds) 10, 11, 12.”

Looking at February 22, Hearn said: “With that in mind, he needs to close out the fight better. I think Beterbiev will be more aggressive early in this fight. He’ll try and wear him down and get to him earlier this time. So, Dmitry’s got to be razor sharp, great feet as always and I believe he wins the fight on points.”

David Benavidez and Light Heavyweight Hopes

David Benavidez won his grudge match against David Morrell, which moved him into pole position to face the winner of Beterbiev vs Bivol 2. Hearn also discussed this possibility and his hopes for the division when speaking to Boxing Social.

“Benavidez, great fight, I really respect the way he fought Morrell because no one really knows who Morrell is and he’s a very good fighter. At the same time selfishly, if Bivol wins and you know Callum Smith can beat Joshua Buatsi, I’d love to see Callum get the opportunity to fight Dmitry Bivol, but let’s get the win first,” said the Matchroom Sport chairman.
