Ortiz Jr. Ready for Crawford

Attention has turned to a potential fight between the big-punching Ortiz, and the pound-for-pound great Terence Crawford. Before Ortiz defeated Bohachuk, Alalshikh revealed his plans alongside De La Hoya: “Tomorrow or after the fight, we have big meeting to support and see the next step with the Golden Boy.” He continued: Ortiz, if he does the job today, we want to see him against Crawford.” His Excellency tantalisingly added: “I will give Crawford big offer to do this.”

Following his win, the Texan fighter seemed more than prepared to face Crawford: “Let’s do it, man. I’m ready for a challenge,” said Ortiz about facing the new WBA super welterweight world champion Crawford. “I think ‘Bud’ is probably pound-for-pound No. 1 in the world and I want to show that I got what it takes to beat him.”

Alalshikh and De La Hoya also agreed that William Zepeda vs. WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson should be on the same card.

Reaction to Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs. Serhii Bohachuk

Following Ortiz Jr.-Bohachuk, His Excellency spoke to Fight Hub TV about his desire to make the fight against Crawford but left the door open for a rematch between the Texan and Ukrainian: “It was a great fight. I thought it was a draw. We want him for Crawford, but if he has a rematch in the future with this guy, it would be amazing.”
