Michael Pirotton warns Johnny Fisher ahead of Zuffa Boxing 11 main event
On September 26 at the Copper Box Arena in London, Johnny Fisher vs Michael Pirotton will headline the Zuffa Boxing 11. The entire card will be promoted by Zuffa Boxing live on Sky Sports for fight fans in the UK, and Paramount+ for those in the U.S. The main event will be in the heavyweight division.
Ahead of this headline Zuffa main event, unknown quantity Pirotton spoke to Sky Sports, where he exuded confidence in causing an upset in London.
Michael Pirotton set to face Johnny Fisher in London
Fisher (14-1, 12 KOs) suffered a huge setback when he was brutally knocked out by Dave Allen in their rematch, and even had to survive a scare against Ivan Balaz before stopping him in round four. The win over Balaz proved to be his last bout under Matchroom Boxing.
Pirotton (12-2, 6 KOs) is an unknown quantity who has struggled for opportunities during his career. He has won his last two fights, including last time against Jiovani Sheik, who he stopped in the third round.
Michael Pirotton reveals why he believes Johnny Fisher’s ‘mind is broke’
Detailing the desire he has and the difference between his rise to Fisher’s, the Belgian said:
“He has the best promotion, the best trainers since the beginning and all that, and I’ve been doing it my own way since the beginning. I had to go through the dirty part of the business.”
Discussing his two losses and what he has learnt, Pirotton said:
“I took two losses. I know the losses were meaningful to become the man I am today. I know these losses came from outside the ring, not really inside. Maybe if I didn’t have those setbacks, I wouldn’t be able to believe in myself so deeply like I am now.”
Revealing his confidence ahead of September 26:
“I think that’s how I’m going to prevail over my opponent on the 26th. Because I know his mind is broke and he’s facing too much pressure for himself. He can act tough and cocky and all that but he’s never been through what I’ve been through.
“I’ve been broken, broken, broken again and still I rose. I’m still here. I know people don’t know me. It would be naive for a guy like me to hope people won’t make fun of me,” said Pirotton.
