‘This is Everything’ – Tyson Fury on Undisputed Showdown
Only a few weeks remain before Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) takes on Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.
The two meet in an event billed as “Ring of Fire” at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on May 18. Viewers can catch the action live as a PPV on DAZN, as well as Sky Sports Box Office and TNT Sports Box Office in the UK and ESPN+ in the US. The card is part of Riyadh Season, an annual state-funded entertainment and sports festival.
Fury, promoter Frank Warren, manager Spencer Brown and trainer SugarHill Steward spoke at a press conference on April 10 at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium in Morecambe, England. Below is some of what they had to say.
‘This is Everything’ – Tyson Fury on Undisputed Showdown
Tyson Fury
“I’m training hard, obviously,” said Fury. “I’m in fantastic shape, obviously. And I’ve got a massive fight going on, obviously. I think there’s no room for error. There’s no room for not training it right or any problems. So we’re just gonna get through it and 40 days out I’m feeling fantastic…I actually am having a fantastic training camp and got a good team around me and everything’s going to plan. No complaints. Working very hard…”

“As for all the stuff people [and] their camp said and all that, this is show business, this is entertainment, this is everything. So if they don’t talk about what’s going on, then people lose interest and yadda, yadda, yadda. So they’ve gotta talk shit. It’s a must. If you don’t talk smack in this game, you ain’t gonna make it…”
Frank Warren
“We’ve got the biggest fight of the 21st century taking place,” said Warren. “It’s never happened before. Four belts on the line. We’re gonna find out who the best heavyweight in the world is. I’ve got my views and I know my views are gonna be right, but, it’s gonna be something special. Something extra, extra special. And these things come along once, well certainly on this occasion, once every century. So a special fight with two special undefeated fighters, two undefeated fighters, and the world is going to see who is the best.”
Spencer Brown
“I’m seeing a man who’s on a mission,” said Brown. “He’s never looked so good in the last couple of years…Everybody’s telling me he’s in fantastic shape. Great order. He’s brought his dad in and it’s very important to have your family around him. I think he’ll agree with that. There’s Sugar. Very good buzz about camp. It’s fantastic.”
SugarHill Steward
“He hasn’t really let down since the end of the last training camp, before the cut” said Steward. “For me one of the hardest things is watching out for these kinda camps when the fighter is totally ready to go and just kinda pacing him and keeping him ready and not overdoing it. It’s not that difficult but you just have to watch, you just have to watch the fighter. The fighter’ll tell you everything if you watch him.”
