O’Shaquie Foster Vows Shock Performance Against Abraham Nova

O’Shaquie Foster (21-2, 12 KOs) shocked the world just a few months ago, and he is vowing to do it again when he takes on Abraham Nova (23-1, 16 KOs).

Foster will defend his WBC super featherweight title for the second time against Nova. The clash will headline a Feb. 16 Top Rank card at Madison Square Garden’s Theater in New York, NY. Fight fans in the United States can catch the action live on ESPN, ESPN+ and ESPN Deportes. This will be the first bout of a multi-fight deal with Top Rank for “Shock.” Both Foster and Nova delivered statements at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

O’Shaquie Foster: ‘I’m Here to Do It Again’

The journey has been everything,” said the reigning WBC champion. “The ups and downs. Growing as a person. I’ve matured now, mentally and physically. Words can’t explain how I feel, but I’m ready.

It was crazy [against Rocky Hernández]. We shocked the world. And I’m here to do it again. Everybody calls me Shock, and we’re going to keep doing it.

We’ve been calling out Nova for years. He knows it. His excuse was that my name wasn’t big enough. Funny how the tables turn. I’m ready, and I’m familiar with his style.

“I did everything in the gym. We are prepared. Come Friday night, we will dominate and put on a show.”

Abraham Nova: ‘I Can’t Let This Opportunity Slip By’

Fighting for a world title is a dream come true,” said Nova“I can’t let this opportunity slip by. I’ve wanted this for so long. Now I have this opportunity. So, I’m super excited and super motivated.”

“I like to take control of things in my career. It’s the main reason I picked boxing. It’s an individual sport. I can be in control.”

“I’ve got to put my trust in God. Everything in the gym has been done. You know what I bring and what I come with. The pressure will be on. The IQ will be on. Everything will be on. I will just have to adjust and come out with the victory.”

Big Fight Weekend Prediction

Against Hernández, Foster showed an ability to get the victory despite being behind (at least on the scorecards). For parts of the fight, the Texan boxed and moved around the ring, landing counters against his opponent. In addition to switching stances, Foster was also willing to stand and trade, eventually knocking out Hernández.

Nova has a higher KO percentage than Foster and is slightly taller as well. “El Super” has also been the more active of the two over the last few years. Despite this, Foster’s skillset should be too much for a fighter like Nova. In his only loss to date, Nova was outboxed and brutally stopped by Robeisy Ramírez. We expect Foster to also outbox the Albany native, but we believe that “El Super” will be able to go the distance. Big Fight Weekend predicts a unanimous decision victory for Foster, allowing him to once again retain his world title.
