Sebastian Fundora vs. Ermal Hadribeaj fight recap

Sebastian Fundora (25-1-1, 17 KOs) left it to the last second of the fight to score a technical knockout win over Ermal Hadribeaj (23-1-1, 8 KOs, 1 NC).

The official time of stoppage was 2:59 of round 12. Fundora remains the WBC super welterweight world champion with the win. He won the title in 2024 against Tim Tszyu. This was his fourth defence of it.

Hadribeaj kept his distance in the opening round, staying low, targeting the body, and always moving to his right. Fundora rocked him with a left hand to the head early in the second, beginning a period of infighting. Hadribeaj lost a point in round two for excessive holding, but the pair continued to fight on the inside.

Fundora found some success landing uppercuts, but his opponent landed far more eye-catching hooks upstairs. As the fight entered the middle rounds, however, Hadribeaj appeared to tire and his output dipped. Fundora began hurting his opponent to the body.

Uppercuts and hooks continued to rain upon Hadribeaj. Earlier, he had been able to stymie the offence of the reigning champion by smothering and holding Fundora’s arms. As the fight neared the end, Hadribeaj struggled to do this effectively. This gave Fundora enough space to land his shots.

Hadribeaj was deducted a second point in round 11 for holding. By then, the fight was well out of his control. In round 12, Fundora landed a series of left hooks upstairs that sent Hadribeaj to the canvas just as the final bell rang. The challenger struggled to his feet, causing referee Thomas Taylor to put an end to proceedings.

Undercard results

Armando Reséndiz (17-3, 11 KOs) won a unanimous decision against Koen Mazoudier (16-5-1, 6 KOs). Scores for their 10-round super middleweight contest were 98-92 and 97-93 (x2).

Marco Romero (16-0, 14 KOs) won via first round technical knockout against Braulio Matias (8-4, 3 KOs). The official time of stoppage for this eight-round super middleweight bout was 1:54. Matias was sent to the canvas by a right hook to the head. Although he made it to his feet, referee Tony Weeks deemed him to be in no position to continue and put an end to proceedings.

Opening the broadcast, Jaime Osuna (12-0, 5 KOs) won a majority decision against Cristian Cangelosi (13-1-1, 5 KOs) in an eight-round middleweight clash. Although one judge had the action 76-76, the other two saw it 77-75.
