Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley 2
After the conclusion of the undercard, it was time for Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley 2, with Dubois’ WBO heavyweight title on the line. Wardley started their first fight quickly, scoring two knockdowns in the first three rounds, but Dubois (24-3, 23 KOs) flew out of the blocks this time, landing a huge right hand and knocking the Ipswich fighter down. “Dynamite” couldn’t miss and looked so dangerous. More big shots landed as the helter skelter opening round continued, and Wardley (20-2-1, 19 KOs) somehow survived the opening three minutes.

Louie O’Doherty vs. Michael Gomez Jr
Louie O’Doherty (12-0-1, 3 KOs) vs Michael Gomez Jr (23-2-1, 8 KOs) was next up in the chief support, with O’Doherty’s British and Commonwealth lightweight titles on the line.
The opening round began as a battle of the jabs, but Gomez Jr quickly got on top, landing some eye-catching right hands as he walked down his opponent, who looked uncomfortable on the back foot. O’Doherty looked more comfortable in the second round, but Gomez Jr increased the pressure towards the end of the second round, landing some hurtful-looking punches.
Gomez Jr continued to look strong over the next few rounds, remaining the aggressor, as O’Doherty struggled to keep Gomez off. Gomez Jr continued to dictate the pace and land the harder punches, with two eye-catching left hooks landing in round nine, which O’Doherty took well.
O’Doherty enjoyed some success in the 10th round, landing some right hands against Gomez Jr, increasing the pressure. Despite the bravery of O’Doherty, Gomez Jr continued to fight on the front foot and deserved his unanimous decision to become the new British and Commonwealth lightweight champion. However, the judges had a different view of the bout, scoring it 115-114 to Gomez Jr, while the other two scored it 114-114, meaning the fight ended as a majority draw. O’Doherty wasn’t outclassed, but he was outworked for much of this fight. I just don’t see how anyone could have scored this close!
Adam Olaniyan vs Dan Garber
The heavyweights were in action again on the Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley 2 fight card, with hot prospect Adam Olaniyan (5-0, 5 KOs) vs Dan Garber (14-10, 2 KOs). Olaniyan enjoyed a strong first round, landing some hurtful body shots on the late replacement Garber, and landed a big right hand near the bell, rocking Garber.
The Irish fighter started the second round brightly, landing a big right hand and knocking down his opponent, whose corner threw in the towel, which was promptly kicked out by referee Amy Pu. Olaniyan pounced and landed another big punch, with the referee waving the fight off as Garber gingerly dragged himself back to his feet. Olaniyan’s 100% KO ratio remains intact!
Bakhodir Jalolov vs Solomon Dacres
Next up, it was the turn of the heavyweights with Bakhodir Jalolov (18-0, 15 KOs) facing Solomon Dacres (10-2, 3 KOs).
Jalolov enjoyed a good first three minutes, finding a home for his long left hand, with Dacres unable to land anything of note or make it difficult for Jalolov to find him. Dacres struggled to land anything telling in the third round, while Jalolov kept it simple, moving in and out of range, picking his punches.
The Uzbek Olympian enjoyed a strong fifth round, knocking Dacres down with a well-timed straight left hand. The Brit recovered well to hear the bell for the end of round five. The control from Jalolov continued over the next couple of rounds, as he kept it simple, controlling the distance with his foot movement and using his height to punch long, making it difficult for Dacres to have any success.
Dacres tried to apply pressure in the final round, but Jalolov moved his feet well and kept it long, seemingly happy to just win the fight. The judges’ scorecards unsurprisingly gave it to the Uzbek fighter, 99-91 and 99-90, all in favour of Bakhodir Jalolov, who remains undefeated. Jalolov won, and it wasn’t a great watch, but it was highly effective!
Nelson Birchall vs Levi Giles
The first fight on the Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley 2 fight card was Nelson Birchall (13-0, 10 KOs) vs Levi Giles (17-4-1, 4 KOs) in the lightweight division.
It was a bright opening round from Birchall, who controlled the distance well and picked his punches impressively from the southpaw stance. The jab and distance were controlled by Birchall during the second round, with Giles having limited success.
Giles continued to have small pockets of success, but Birchall’s slick footwork and punch placement ensured he remained in control. It was a huge fifth round for Birchall, who landed a sickening left hand, flooring Giles, who showed his bravery to fire back later in the round. The punch variation from the Morecambe man is helping him boss this bout.
Another knockdown came in the sixth, and an eye-catching flurry followed in round seven, flooring a brave Giles once again, prompting the referee to jump in and wave the fight off. That was impressive from Birchall, becoming the first fighter to stop Giles, winning by seventh round TKO.
