‘He Beats Usyk I Have No Doubt’: Heavyweight Tipped to Defeat Oleksandr Usyk

On August 3 at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on the undercard of Terence Crawford vs. Israil Madrimov, Martin Bakole impressively defeated Jared Anderson by fifth-round knockout, to put himself at the top table in the heavyweight division. The heavy-handed Congo fighter made his intentions clear in round one by flooring “The Real Big Baby.” He looked dangerous throughout the contest, and during round five, the American fighter was knocked down a further two times, before referee Jerry Cantu waved off the fight. Following this devastating KO win, British heavyweight Dave Allen has spoken to Boxing Social and tipped Bakole to be the man who defeats Oleksandr Usyk.

Dave Allen Praises Bakole

In a recent interview with BoxNation, the Congolese heavyweight spoke about potential future opponents and said: “I think so (Zhilei Zhang)would be a good opponent], I think that is where I belong. I understand [Jared Anderson] saying yes to fighting me, he is young and he believes in himself but in my opinion, this was too early for him because I am not at this level. I deserve to be in with” He continued: “[Oleksandr] Usyk, Tyson [Fury], Joe Joyce, Zhang, Agit Kabayel, Joseph Parker – this is where I belong.”

British heavyweight Dave Allen who has sparred with many top heavyweights has shared his views on the ability of Bakole: “He is so relaxed, when I sparred him and did the rounds, I couldn’t believe a man of that size could put six or seven shots together as well as he did,” Allen said to Boxing Social.

Allen then compared the Congolese heavyweight to other sparring partners: “I’ve sparred everyone, Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk. but none of them put together shots like he did.” He added: “I have never been [hit] by so many different shots, one or two hooks, he’s seriously going to take some beating.”

The Brit then described how he sees Bakole defeating Usyk: “There is no doubt in my mind, Usyk just can’t beat him, he beats Usyk I have no doubt.” Allen only seems to see a small pool of fighters living with Bakole: “He is just way too big and he is just all wrong for him. I can only see Zhilei Zhang giving him trouble.” He added: “Fury and Anthony Joshua too, no-one else has any chance with him.”
