Mexican Olympian Turns Pro Under Guidance of Canelo Alvarez Trainer Eddy Reynoso
Eddy Reynoso, the long-term trainer and manager of Canelo Alvarez has been in the news over the last 48 hours regarding the dismissal of Ben Shalom’s comment that “small conversations” had started around a Canelo fight with Chris Eubank Jr. Reynoso is also in the news for a non-Canelo rumour: He will be managing the welterweight silver medallist for Mexico in the 2024 Paris Olympics, Marco Verde.
Reynoso Denies Shalom Claim and Signs Marco Verde
Verde Reacts to Reynoso Deal
Eddy Reynoso told Fight Freaks Unite regarding the claims from Shalom:“It’s totally false.” He added: “Eubank had his chance to fight Canelo in September and the only thing he did was complicate the negotiations. We will not touch basewith him again for a future fight! Whatever I tell you is always true! I don’t like making statements but what I declare is true.”
Reynoso is now back in the news but for a different reason. He will be managing Marco Verde, who won the welterweight silver medal at the 2024 Olympics. Reynoso is known for his training as well as managing but Verde clarified how his team will be set up when posting via his X account: “I am very pleased to share with you that Eddy Reynoso will be my manager and representative to begin my path in professional boxing, fully trusting in his experience and vision.”
Clarifying the setup of his team, Verde said: “Radames Hernandez is my coach and I will continue my training in Mazatlan.”
Reynoso Reacts to Verde Deal
Verde enjoyed a successful amateur career, making it to the 2024 Olympic welterweight final before losing to Uzbekistan’s Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev. When speaking to Fight Freaks Unite, Reynoso could not contain his excitement: “He will be a future star of Mexican boxing,” said Reynoso.
With Eddy Reynoso as his manager, Marco Verde will begin his pro journey that could make him Mexico’s next boxing star.
