Parker’s promoter Dave Higgins was adamant his fighter wanted a shot at the IBF crown: Whenever, anywhere, anytime. Joseph would love to fight Daniel Dubois next, he’s chomping at the bit,said Higgins.

He continued: “Joseph is ready to fight anyone but if he was given the opportunity to fight Daniel Dubois, he’d grab it with both hands, and he would back himself to win.”

The South Auckland-born fighter suffered what seemed a career-ending loss to Joe Joyce on September 24, 2022, but has bounced back in style since. His run of good form started with a win against Jack Massey, but it’s his last two wins that have really revitalised his career.

The victories over Wilder and Zhang showed the exceptional ring IQ of Parker. He negated the strengths of his opponents for long periods and even survived two knockdowns against “Big Bang” to record the win. He looked a long way from the world title mix, but Parker has seized the opportunity for redemption and is now seemingly on the edge of a title shot.
