Three Fights to Look Forward to in October Including Undisputed Light Heavyweight Showdown

In 2024, we have witnessed many great fights, with Oleksandr Usyk defeating Tyson Fury to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, Terence Crawford becoming a four-division world champion, and the recent victory of Daniel Dubois against Anthony Joshua, to name just three. There are plenty of memorable fights already arranged for the rest of the year and at Big Fight Weekend, we want to highlight a few fights each month, and we are bringing you three fascinating fights in October’s boxing schedule to look forward to.

Boxing Schedule: Three Fights in October to Look Forward to

Boxing Schedule: Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol – October 12

The one fight many of us have been waiting for is almost upon us with Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol set to face off for the undisputed light heavyweight crown at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh. The undercard also looks set to give us plenty of entertainment with Fabio Wardley vs. Frazer Clarke II in addition to appearances from Jai Opetaia and Chris Eubank Jr.

The main event looks set to provide plenty of fireworks. Beterbiev is an offensive beast who cuts the ring off excellently before landing spiteful shots at his opponents. His power is undeniable with every win coming by KO, but his defence is also impressive, with his high guard and solid footwork. His work rate will ensure his opponent is kept honest throughout. This is the one, no-fight fan can afford to miss. Bivol has masterful footwork, which enables him to pivot out of danger and punch from various angles. This movement will undoubtedly test the Beterbiev defence. Bivol possesses a brilliant jab, which helps him control the distance and use it as a starting base to throw combinations.

Bakhram Murtazaliev vs. Tim Tszyu – October 19

Tim Tszyu will return to action on October 19, when he challenges current IBF world champion Bakhram Murtazaliev for his title. It will be the main event of a PBC card on Prime Video live from the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Tszyu is a relentless fighter who constantly presses forward, looking to engage. He carries significant power and throws accurate combinations, leading to 17 knockouts in his 24 victories. The unbeaten IBF champion is known for his power – and ability to pick his punches effectively.

Jack Catterall vs. Regis Prograis – October 26

Jack Catterall vs. Regis Prograis was originally scheduled for August 24 at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England, live on DAZN before “El Gato” picked up an injury, and the bout was subsequently rescheduled to October 26 at the same venue.

Prograis carries plenty of power, which he has shown during his career, but the New Orleans native has also shown a good chin and toughness. He will unfortunately be coming into this fight off the back of a beatdown from Devin Haney on December 9, 2023. Catterall got a career-best win in his last fight, the rematch against Josh Taylor. The Chorley native has an exceptional jab and when he’s in his groove, it’s difficult to stop him.

With these exciting matchups, October promises to deliver, yet another unforgettable month of action for boxing fans globally.
