Takuma Inoue (22-2, 5 KOs) will soon defend his WBC bantamweight world title in a rematch against Tenshin Nasukawa (8-1, 3 KOs).
Their bout headlines a Teiken Promotions card at the Toyota Arena in Tokyo, Japan. Fight fans in Japan will be able to catch the action live on Prime Video. The rest of the world will be able to do so with DAZN.
Inoue defeated Nasukawa in November of last year at the exact same venue to claim the then vacant WBC world title. Since then, both men have fought once. Inoue emerged victorious over Kazuto Ioka in May of this year while Nasukawa defeated Juan Francisco Estrada in April. From Big Fight Weekend’s Ricky Carroll: Takuma is the younger brother of Naoya, but a great fighter in his own right. He carries impressive hand speed and is at his best when applying the pressure and letting his hands go. Watching Inoue, his distance control stands out, as does the variety in his work.
Nasukawa, the former kickboxing star, has adapted impressively to professional boxing. He’s a great counter-puncher, with his left hand his best weapon. His body work against Estrada was exceptional and the main way he broke down the Mexican. Nasukawa couldn’t get his best work off, as Inoue controlled the distance well and outworked Nasukawa in their first fight.
Despite the unanimous decision in their first fight, this rematch should be a great watch for all boxing aficionados. Looking at the attributes of both, we are backing Inoue to get the job done again, but a closer fight than last time.
