Jeff Horn-Tim Tszyu weighed in ahead of Wednesday showdown
Late night Monday in the U.S., but Tuesday afternoon in Australia, former WBO World Welterweight Champ, Jeff Horn, and unbeaten Jr. Middleweight contender, Tim Tszyu, weighed in for their highly anticipated Wednesday night non-title showdown.
Here’s video of the fighters on the scales in Townsville Australia, as Tszyu made the 154 lb. weight limit easily, but Horn spent part of Tuesday in the sauna to get just under the weight:

There has been quite the promotional build up for this battle, as it’s being hyped as the top fight in Australia for all of 2020.
Tszyu is the son of former Undisputed World Jr. Lightweight champ, Kostya Tszyu, and is an up and coming star himself at 15-0, 11 KOs. And, he was slated to fight the biggest named opponent of his career in the 32 year old Horn earlier this year before the Covid 19 shutdown of the sport. Horn defeated future Hall of Famer Manny Pacquiao, in a controversial 12 round decision for WBO World Welterweight Title in 2017.
That fight was held in Brisbaine on the Southeast coast of Australia, at an outdoor stadium with over 35,000 in attendance.
However, Horn’s reign was short lived, as he only defended the title once before Terence Crawford dominated and battered Horn for nine rounds in a TKO stoppage in Las Vegas in 2018. It was also the one and only fight Horn’s had outside of Australia.
Horn, 20-2-1, also was stopped by fellow Australian Michael Zerafa in August of 2019, but avenged that defeat with a 12-round majority decision rematch win over Zerafa five months later last December.
This fight is being held in the Northeastern tourist coastal city of Townsville and has attracted thousands of tourists and fight fans to the area for the bout.
Last month, we wrote about promoter Dean Lonergan and officials in Queensland state proudly touting that the Covid 19 delayed, Horn-Tszyu fight was back on. And, that it would be at Queensland Bank Stadium outdoors in Townsville with potentially 16,000 fans or more, socially distanced in attendance.
As you could see from the video from Tuesday afternoon, there were not many masks being worn out of any concern for Covid 19.
So, now we’ll wait to see just what kind of large crowd will be in attendance for this one in primetime in Australia Wednesday night?
And, it’s a night were Tszyu could take a big credibility step in his career or Horn could regain some attention with an upset win.
