It’s Michael Hunter Fight Week!

This Tuesday, Michael Hunter makes his Triller debut against Mike Wilson in a ten-round WBA World title eliminator from the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Speaking with Fighthype, Hunter spoke on the ability to headline at The Garden since the pandemic canceled scheduled fights back in March of last year.

“Madison Square, they’re fiending right now for fights to be there. I mean it sold out in like ten minutes. Just because it’s Madison Square and it’s New York,  everybody’s vibin. They can’t wait to come out,” Hunter said to FightHype.

Hunter was last in the ring this past December on Fite.TV, stopping Shawn Laughery in the 4th round. Fite.TV is the free broadcast home for this event as well starting at 6 p.m. ET/3  p.m. PT. Jamel Herring will be providing color commentary for the card as well.

We know who Hunter is, but what about his challenger Mike Wilson? Hunter explained to Lukie Boxing back in June that this is a grudge match from his Olympic days.

“People don’t know but Mike Wilson was the number one heavyweight at the time back in his time as an amateur. I was kinda the guy that overthrew him in the Olympic trials,” Hunter said to Lukie. “I was like the new kid on the block and he was like the old veteran who done it once or twice. So the guy definitely has a lot of experience.”.

We have a grudge match from 2007 and a chance to see Hunter in the first of many fights as part of his deal with Triller. While he wouldn’t pick a side between the iconic rap groups The Lox and Dipset, who will be on stage thirty minutes after his contest with Wilson, Hunter understands he has to deliver.

“Expect fireworks. You know I’m going to go get him. I’m very fast paced so expect me to try to get him out of there,” Hunter said.
