Harlem Eubank Prevails in Scrappy, Frustrating Clash with Nurali Erdogan
On Friday, November 22, at the Walker Dome in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Harlem Eubank (20-0, 8 KOs) defeated Nurali Erdogan (16-4, 1 KO) by unanimous decision in a terribly untidy 8-round welterweight contest promoted by Wasserman Boxing live on Channel 5 in the UK.
Harlem Eubank Defeats Nurali Erdogan in Tough to Watch Fight
Harlem Eubank vs. Nurali Erdogan Recap
The opening four rounds saw Eubank produce better work – when he used his smart footwork. When the fighters got up close, it became tough to watch and very untidy, with the referee warning both fighters repeatedly. Erdogan had success, but mostly with single shots.
After an untidy round four, Eubank created a bit more distance in the fifth round and boxed more intelligently before being caught by a left hook late in the round. The referee had seen enough in round six and deducted a point from Erdogan for holding and pushing. It was a difficult fight to watch – and Eubank would have surely wanted more from this.

The seventh round was indicative of this fight, with Eubank showing slickness with the feinting before he jabs, but it was another round full of head clashes and holding, which saw both fighters tangle and full over for the third time.
The final round did not improve with it becoming clear the styles of both would not blend. Both fighters were deducted a point in the final round with Eubank sustaining a nasty-looking cut by his right eye.
It was ultimately a night to forget for Eubank, who seemingly found the jump in weight hard when in the clinch. Both fighters met in the ring for the judge’s verdict and the cards read 77-73, 79-70 and 77-72, all in favour of Harlem Eubank winning by unanimous decision.
