Daniel Dubois and Filip Hrgović Clash With Title Shot in Sight

Daniel Dubois (20-2, 19 KOs) and Filip Hrgović (17-0, 14 KOs) clash on Saturday with a potential world title shot in their sights.

The two meet on a card that pits five Matchroom Boxing fighters against five from Queensberry Promotions. Fight fans can catch the action live as a PPV on DAZN. Those in the United Kingdom can also purchase it from TNT Sports, discovery+, Sky, EE TV and Prime Video.

Queensberry vs. Matchroom 5v5 will take place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is part of Riyadh Season, a state-funded entertainment and sports festival. The Saudi Arabian General Entertainment Authority is responsible for its organization.

The winner of Hrgović-Dubois becomes next in line to challenge for the IBF heavyweight title. That strap is currently held by undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk. If the Ukrainian relinquishes the title instead of defending it, the winner of Hrgović-Dubois becomes the world champion. Both men spoke at a final press conference Thursday in Riyadh to promote the June 1 bout. Below is some of what they had to say.

Hrgović

“I feel great,” said Hrgović. “I’m glad that he called me out and that he want to fight me. I was calling for top heavyweights and big names for last few years and it’s [a] really good fight for me. He’s [a] good name for me, good boxer and I can’t wait for Saturday.”

“It’s the fact that I have much more experience. I had long amateur career and I gone through more than him. I thinkmaybe he has more professional fights but I have much more experience and I think I take him to school.”

Dubois

“I’m good, I’m ready to fight,” said Dubois. “He’s here to fight me. I can’t take no more easy steps, no more bums. This is the level I need to be at and I’m ready for it.”

“We have a bit of history in sparring and whatever, but that was seven years ago. I’m here for the fight on Saturday andI’m going to knock him out on Saturday.”

Fight Prediction

Dubois has the power to be wary of – but Hrgović should be able to negate it. Both fighters have high knockout percentages, and it feels highly unlikely that this fight will go the distance. We expect Hrgović to get the stoppage win sometime after the midway point of the fight.
