Canelo Next Fight Revealed Alongside Star-Studded Co-Main Event

The next fight for Mexican pound-for-pound great “Canelo” Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) has been revealed, with the WBC, WBA and WBO Super Middleweight champion taking on the undefeated WBA No. 1-Ranked Mandatory Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Alvarez-Berlanga will headline a September 14 PBC Pay-Per-View card taking place on Prime Video. The event will be promoted by Canelo Promotions and TGB Promotions, in association with Matchroom Boxing. You will be able to purchase the card on Prime Video PPV, DAZN PPV and through PPV.com. Fight fans will also be able to watch the show through traditional cable and satellite outlets.

Canelo Next Fight: Edgar Berlanga Revealed

Intriguing Co-Main Event Confirmed

September 14 will bring Mexico vs. Puerto Rico to the boxing world. “Canelo” has experienced this rivalry before, when he defeated Hall of Famer Miguel Cotto. The co-main event will see reigning WBA Middleweight titlist Erislandy Lara face two-division world champion Danny Garcia.

“Canelo” has mixed with great fighters throughout his career, recording notable wins against Jaime Munguia, Caleb Plant and Sergey Kovalev among others. His opponent is best known for winning his first 16 fights by KO. He most recently defeated Padraig McCrory by sixth round stoppage.

Keith Connolly and Eddie Hearn React to Fight Confirmation

Canelo vs. Berlanga is renewing the Mexico vs Puerto Rico rivalry, which is the best in boxing history. Sept. 14 is a can’t miss event for fans around the world.”

Eddie Hearn has also reacted to the deal: “Edgar Berlanga’s nickname is the Chosen One and I’m so happy he got the golden pick for Sept. 14.” He continued: “This is the fight we dreamed about when we signed Edgar last year and he is ready to give everything for himself, his family and for Puerto Rico. Alvarez and Berlanga Express Gratitude

“Canelo has also expressed his positive thoughts regarding the Berlanga confirmation: “I am very happy for this fight between Mexico and Puerto Rico,” said Álvarez. “It’s exciting to be part of another great Mexico vs. Puerto Rico battle inside the ring because historically we have always offered unforgettable fights full of passion. I am proud to contribute to this legacy and facing an opponent like Edgar Berlanga adds even more excitement and meaning to this event.”

His opponent has also spoken of his gratitude regarding the fight: “First and foremost, I want to thank the good Lord for putting me in this position.”

Lara vs. Garcia
