Ugas wins one-sided contest against Dallas Jr
The main event on Fox Sports 1 Saturday night in Biloxi, Mississippi, saw a very aggressive Yordenis Ugas looking to make a statement against Mike Dallas Jr., stopping him after the end of seven rounds.
Ugas got the stoppage victory when after the seventh round, Dallas’ corner decided to throw in the towel to halt the contest in the interest and safety of their fighter. To everyone watching the one-sided affair, knew this was the right call.
“(Dallas’) corner said he was taking too much punishment and didn’t want to see him get hurt any worse,” FS1’s Jordan Plant (nee Hardy) reported from ringside on the broadcast. “They want him to live to see him fight another day.”
The official time of the stoppage is 3:00 at the end of the seventh round.

From the onset of the fight, Ugas was the more aggressor of the two. Being able to land almost anything he could on a Dallas who was outmatched. So much so that Ugas was warned for an accidental low blow in the opening round. From there, it was all Ugas with the final ending stat that confirming. The final total power punches in this one as Ugas landed over 52 % (106/203), compared to Dallas, who only landed 21% (35/163).
What seemed to be a knockdown that neared the end of the fifth round was ruled correctly as a slip by referee Bill Clancy. At this point in the fight, while Dallas was undefeated in his last five matches, he wasn’t showing much in the ring to question anyone’s doubt going into it with why he a considerable underdog coming in.
With this win, that is back to back impressive performances for Ugas after coming off the close loss he had last March against Shawn Porter last March for the WBC Welterweight title. After this bout, let’s see if this puts Ugas back against another top tier welterweight in the PBC stable later on this year.
