Expect a Wilder-Fury 2 Press Conference after all

For all of you saying there wouldn’t be a press conference tour for Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury for the rematch taking place in Las Vegas on February 22nd, fear not as we’ll get one.

Sunday night, Michael Woods wrote for Bad Left Hook, per Premier Boxing Champions Vice President of Communications Tim Smith, that we’ll get all the smack talk between the two we can handle leading up to the contest on ESPN and Fox joint pay-per-view.

“He’ll do plenty of press for the fight,” Smith told Bad Left Hook asked if Wilder will do any press for the fight

”Would you have paid attention to or attended anything during the holidays? No. I’m sure you relished the opportunity to spend time with family and friends. You would have been cursing us for setting up stuff during the holiday season and missing out on that.”

“Who said there wasn’t going to be a press conference?” Smith asked. “Announcements about a press conference and the like are forthcoming. I’m glad, so many people are interested in whether there is a press conference or not. That’s a good sign.”

Woods, in his article, showed him the tweet from Adam Catterall of Talksport stating no presser tour, which Smith clapped back with ”Twitter. Wow!”

To Catterall’s defense of the no press conference tour talk, when the fight was announced, several people, including Bob Arum, stated that there wasn’t going to be a press conference tour — leading up to the fight.

Even Top Rank sent out a tweet saying that the fight was going to promote itself Sunday night.

So for those clamoring for a war of words between the two face to face, you’ll get that chance before the fight to see these two talk about who will be the best since they both were seen in the ring after the split decision draw in December 2018.

Promotion for this fight has begun already on ESPN as  Fury has appeared on shoulder programming already. I’m safe to say we may see “an ad or two” as time rolls on for FOX as they’re broadcasting this year’s Super Bowl. I’m sure they’ll be mentioning the fight during the most viewed sporting event in the United States year in and year out.  This press conference is just an additional promotion for a fight many in boxing are already aware of, and those who haven’t got the memo are soon about to find out.
