Easter victorious in debut at 140 over Granados
It turned out to be a firefight, and a very good one as Robert Easter Jr. and Adrian Granados put on a fun firefight in the co-main in the Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania. This match led up to the main event between Erickson Lubin and Nathaniel Gallimore.
In the end, it was Easter in his debut at the new weight class of 140, winning by unanimous decision. Scores were 97-93, 98-92, and an absolute trash scorecard of 100-90, which harmed what was otherwise an exceptional action fight.
Easter was coming off a match with Barthelemy, which has was a draw and just wasn’t very good in April, and this all but made up for with toe to toe action throughout the bout. This formed to create the classic “styles makes fights” matchup. Granados kept pressing forward, making Easter having to throw to keep him off of him.

Granados, after the fight talking with Jim Gray in the ring, felt the judges jammed him.
“I felt like I won the fight It seemed like they already had a victor,” insisted Granados, who landed 391 of 994 punches, compared to 239 of 821 for Easter Jr. “100-90? Come on.”
Can’t emphasize how bad and unfair that 100-90 scorecard by judge John Poturaj, but this for Granados was a better showing than the one he had where he was stopped against Danny Garcia back in April.
“Styles make fights,” noted Easter Jr. (22-1-1, 14KOs) after picking up his first win in nearly two years. “(Barthelemy) was a counter puncher. Granados was coming forward. We knew he was coming to fight.”
Speaking with Fighthype.com after the victory, Easter elaborated on the in-ring action.
“I had to, because he (Granados) throwing,” Easter said after the fight to Fighthype. “He didn’t care where he was landing. He was throwing. So that had to keep me on my game as well, you know, to deliver them shi*s back.”
That Easter did. Jose Ramirez and Josh Taylor currently are atop of the mountain at 140. The path for a belt for Easter at 140 is through the WBA and with Barrios ordered to face Batyr Ahmedov and Taylor and Ramirez expecting to clash to unify both belts, we’ll see if he gets how he climbs up the ranks and who they’ll give to him next to face.
