On September 12 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV, Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn will headline a co-promoted card between Zuffa Boxing and Golden Boy Promotions. Fight fans in the United Kingdom and Ireland will be able to catch the action live on DAZN, while the rest of the world can watch  the event on Paramount+. 

This intriguing clash will be for Garcia’s WBC welterweight world title, which he won against Mario Barrios. Ahead of this upcoming world title showdown, legendary trainer Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre has revealed his bold prediction for the fight on a recent episode of the Last Stand Podcast with Brian Custer.

Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn set to clash for WBC welterweight title

The build-up to this fight has already been interesting, with both exchanging insults at a recent Fan Fest event in New York, where they had to be held back from each other. As fight night edges closer, the build-up should become even spicier, while the actual fight should be entertaining for as long as it lasts.

Garcia (25-2, 20 KOs) has produced impressive performances during his professional career, including in his most recent fight against Barrios to win the WBC title. He was brilliant at times in his win against Devin Haney. However, the subsequent news of failed tests saw that win expunged from the record books. He has also underperformed against Rolly Romero and Gervonta Davis, and it remains to be seen whether we will see the best “King Ry” on September 12.

Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) has had his own controversies outside of the ring, and he created more headlines when he moved to Zuffa Boxing from Matchroom. This move split opinions throughout the sport, and came after Benn’s biggest win, in the rematch against Chris Eubank Jr. Benn’s most recent fight saw him beat Regis Prograis at 150 pounds. It was an underwhelming performance, but a victory nonetheless.

Terence Crawford’s trainer ‘BoMac’ McIntyre is one of the most respected voices in the sport, and when appearing on The Last Stand Podcast, he was asked for his prediction on Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn:

“Conor Benn is going to probably stop him. He gonna probably stop him, man. Ryan ain’t been the same since that first fight with Haney, he got popped. He just never got back to that type of winning.

“I have seen Benn first hand, man that dude is going to destroy Garcia. You heard it first from ‘BoMac’,” said the legendary trainer.
