Moses Itauma welcomes future all-British unification clash

On August 29, at the 02 Arena in London, Moses Itauma vs Filip Hrgovic headlines a Queensberry Promotions fight card, live on DAZN PPV. The winner of this fight will surely be on the verge of a world title fight or a showdown with a huge name in the division. Ahead of Itauma vs Hrgovic, the 21-year-old southpaw spoke to iFL TV, where he teased what he believes Frank Warren is planning for the heavyweight division.

Moses Itauma ordered to face Frank Sanchez for vacant IBF heavyweight title

After Moses Itauma vs Hrgovic was announced, the IBF ordered the Brit to hold talks with Frank Sanchez (26-1, 19 KOs) about fighting for the vacant heavyweight crown. This ruling followed Oleksandr Usyk’s decision to vacate his IBF, WBA ‘super’ and WBC belts.

The IBF said, “In accordance with IBF championship rules”, it wants Sanchez, who is number one in their heavyweight rankings, to fight number three contender Itauma (14-0, 12 KOs). It was also confirmed that they have until July 29 to reach an agreement. There have been rumours that Team Itauma could take the title fight against Sanchez and leave the Hrgovic (20-1, 15 KOs) fight. It certainly adds an intriguing layer to proceedings.

Moses Itauma welcomes Daniel Dubois clash

Speaking to iFL TV, Itauma made it clear he’s open to facing fellow Queensberry Promotions fighter Daniel Dubois (23-3, 22 KOs):

“I think…I don’t know if Frank (Warren) is gonna be happy about this, but I think he’s gonna try to get, obviously, me and Dubois to try to collect all the belts, then unify with each other. If that’s the plan, I’m happy to roll with that.”

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Moses Itauma. What we’ve seen so far suggests his future should be full of world titles and big fights. Whether it’s ultimately Hrgovic or a showdown with Sanchez for the vacant IBF title, the future looks bright for Itauma.
