‘I don’t see him as a warrior’: Filip Hrgovic questions Moses Itauma
On August 29, at the O2 Arena in London, live on DAZN PPV, Moses Itauma vs Filip Hrgovic headlines a Queensberry Promotions fight card. This heavyweight bout will present Itauma with the toughest test of his career so far. While at the launch presser, Hrgovic spoke to The Stomping Ground, where he cast doubt on Itauma ahead of their August showdown.
Moses Itauma vs Filip Hrgovic set for August 29 showdown
Itauma (14-0, 12 KOs) has smashed his way through every opponent, leading him to this opportunity. Last time out, he faced Jermaine Franklin, in what was deemed his toughest test so far. Itauma was too fast and too powerful for the normally durable American. Itauma ended up winning by fifth-round TKO. Other eye-catching wins have come against Dillian Whyte and Mike Balogun.
Hrgovic (20-1, 15 KOs) has suffered just one career defeat, losing to Daniel Dubois. Since that loss, “El Animal” has won three consecutive fights, including last time out against Dave Allen. Hrgovic has mixed at a higher level, has a good chin and carries plenty of power, but can he deal with the speed and power from Itauma?
Hrgovic questions Itauma
Speaking to The Stomping Ground, Hrgovic made it clear he’s not convinced by Itauma:
“It’s just b******t, you know. I don’t believe in that b********ing. I believe in old school, working hard, and he’s new school program to be a star. This morning, he got this bottle of water. A nutritionist told him, ‘Moses until 12, ’ you must drink that bottle, ‘and in 13.13 seconds, you must start drinking another,’ and with those puzzle and those b******t, I don’t believe in that.
“Since the beginning, I don’t see him as a warrior. He’s a good fighter, skilful talent. I just don’t see him as a tough man. I think compared to my journey, it’s nothing. I feel like he was given everything on the table. My heart, my path was much harder than his. How will he react when he’s in trouble? Does he have great endurance, great chin, great will, determination? That will be new for him.”
