‘We’re talking to his team’: Ben Shalom discusses Chris Eubank Jr future

Conor Benn says 'I'm not the reason why these fights don't happen'

Chris Eubank Jr (35-4, 25 KOs) has been one of the most outspoken fighters in recent years. His public spats with Billy Joe Saunders and Conor Benn were two of the most high-profile. The 36-year-old was last seen in the ring last November, where he was comfortably beaten by Conor Benn in their rematch. He also recently announced on social media that he was a free agent, and his promoter, Ben Shalom, has spoken to The Stomping Ground to clarify those rumours.

Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn

On April 26, 2025, Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn finally faced off in the ring, and in many eyes it was the fight of the year, with both going back and forth for 12 rounds. The cleaner and more composed work came from Eubank, who won by unanimous decision, with scorecards of 116-112 x3.

Their rematch last November was dominated by Benn, who boxed more diligently, scoring two knockdowns on his way to a unanimous decision win with scorecards of 119-107, 116-110, and 118-108. Despite the improvements from Benn, Eubank Jr looked a shadow of his former self. Did the first fight drain him? Or did having to weigh no more than 170 pounds on the day of the fight finally catch up with him?

Many wondered after the fight what the future would be for Chris Eubank Jr.

Ben Shalom discusses future of Chris Eubank Jr

When asked for the latest regarding Chris Eubank Jr’s future, Shalom said: “We’re gonna get this fight out of the way on Saturday night, and then we’ll be in talks (with Team Eubank) about what happens next.”

When asked about Chris signing with Boxxer because there will be more freedom, Shalom clarified: “There is, and there always will be. 100%, and that’s why I am not too irate about it. It is what it is. I’ve known Chris a long time. I’ve done Chris’s last eight fights. Probably the longest run. He is independent in that sense, and I respect him for it. Look, we’re talking to his team already. News coming, and let’s see what happens.”

What should Chris Eubank Jr do next? Surely a move to 168 pounds beckons?
