Malik Scott Makes Bold Deontay Wilder vs Derek Chisora Prediction
On April 4, Deontay Wilder vs Derek Chisora headlines a Misfits Pro card in association with Queensberry Promotions at the O2 Arena in London. The entire card will stream live on DAZN.
This intriguing heavyweight bout will likely be an old-fashioned slobberknocker. As we edge closer to fight night, Wilder’s former trainer, Malik Scott, has spoken to Action Network, revealing his bold prediction.
Malik Scott predicts Deontay Wilder vs Derek Chisora
Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) was regarded by many as the most feared puncher in the heavyweight division for several years, until his hugely taxing trilogy with Tyson Fury. Those three fights appeared to take a lot from both fighters.
“The Bronze Bomber” has suffered back-to-back defeats against Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang in more recent years, before returning to action, stopping Tyrrell Herndon in the seventh round.
Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) is arguably one of the most popular fighters in British boxing, due to his straight-talking and fan-friendly fight style. He has fought many of the best fighters, including Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk and Vitali Klitschko.
Speaking to Action Network, Scott revealed Chisora wasn’t the first option for Wilder:
“Deontay was going to take the Usyk fight, but they just couldn’t come to an agreement, so Deontay, he wasn’t going to wait around, he got to do other stuff. And right now, I really believe that Chisora can bring the best out of him at this point in his career.”
Looking ahead to Deontay Wilder vs Derek Chisora, Scott added:
“The fight is really black and white to me. If Deontay, who’s the hardest puncher in the history of the sport in my opinion, cracked Derek coming in, Derek goes to sleep. If Derek can stay in Deontay’s chest and attempt to drown him and take him into deep waters and drown him, if Deontay doesn’t knock him out, then it could be a long night for Deontay.
“It can be for anybody that fights Chisora. The fight is black and white. Can Deontay knock him out? That’s what we’re going to see. If he can’t knock him out, Chisora’s going to be all over him, like white on rice. I think Deontay Wilder wins by knockout early. But Chisora is gonna let us know if there’s anything left.”
