British heavyweight Dave Allen has spoken to Daily Mail Sport and delivered a blunt assessment of Paul’s ability, while revealing what AJ must do on December 19.
Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul – Dave Allen delivers his verdict on Paul
Despite the boxing calendar having several cards this fight week across the globe, most eyes are firmly fixed on the Kaseya Center in Miami, ready for Joshua-Paul.
Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) was last seen in action back in 2024, where he was brutally stopped in the fifth round by Daniel Dubois. It remains to be seen what Joshua has left.
Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) has been more active than AJ, defeating Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in his last fight, with scorecards of 97-93, 98-92, and 99-91.
When asked what he thought of Jake Paul’s performance against Tommy Fury, Allen said, “He’s a raw novice. I’m a British-level heavyweight, and he wouldn’t last two minutes with me. I’m not sure he’d win an area title, to be honest. I don’t think he would, not sure he would, to be honest.
“Will Tommy Fury win an area title? I’m not sure he would,” said Allen.
When asked if Joshua has to win by KO: “One round. It has to be one round. If it takes more than one round, I’d be disappointed,” added Allen.
