Brian Norman Jr Secures Long-Term Deal Before Devin Haney Title Defence
Brian Norman Jr (28-0, 22 KOs) has enjoyed a perfect professional career so far, reaching a new stratosphere after his brilliant win over Giovani Santillan for the WBO interim welterweight title. Since then, “The Assassin II” has been elevated to the full title, following Terence Crawford’s decision to vacate. Now, Top Rank have announced that Norman Jr has signed a multi-year contract extension, keeping the heavy-handed Georgia native with Bob Arum & the promotional powerhouse.
Brian Norman Jr Signs Multi-Year Contract Extension With Top Rank
Bob Arum and Norman Jr React to Extension
Norman Jr will be back in action on November 22 in Riyadh against Devin Haney (32-0, 15 KOs) on the Ring IV card, where he will make the third defence of the title. Following Norman’s win over Santillan, he demolished Derrieck Cuevas and, most recently, Jin Sasaki. In these bouts, Norman displayed sharper punch variety, and when combined with his devastating power, he is a nightmare to face.
Bob Arum has given his reaction to the extension: “When I watch Brian Norman Jr., I think of all the legendary welterweights I’ve promoted. He has the physical tools and maturity required to become a generational fighter,” said Top Rank Chairman Bob Arum. “We are thrilled to be part of the next phase of Brian’s career, which I believe will see him ascend from world champion to the top of the pound-for-pound list.”
Norman was also thrilled to finalise the extension: “I believe in loyalty,” Norman said. “Top Rank believed in me from the start, and I’m proud to keep building with the home team. We’re only getting started.”
