Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron 2 headlined a Boxxer Promotions card on April 20 at the bp pulse LIVE in Birmingham. The entire card was shown live on Sky Sports in the UK. Big Fight Weekend brought you live results updates as the action progressed from the first bout between Mark Jeffers and Ricardo Lara to Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron 2. The main event ultimately saw Whittaker show his class and stop Cameron in impressive style.

In the main event, Whittaker (9-0-1, 6 KOs) started brightly in the opening round, staying behind his razor-sharp jab. Cameron (23-7-1, 10 KOs) tried to apply pressure, but Whittaker moved well and mixed his shots impressively.
The second round saw Cameron have success and work behind his jab, but Whittaker looked sharp and landed a big right hand which left Cameron on wobbly legs. “The Surgeon” smelt blood and pounced unloading a barrage of spiteful punches, which led the referee to jump in and wave the fight off. A highly impressive performance from Whittaker. Some may criticize the stoppage as too premature, but the 2020 Olympic silver medallist looked sharp and spiteful, winning via a second-round TKO.
Sam Eggington vs Lee Cutler
After Clarke’s impressive stoppage, it was time for Lee Cutler (15-2, 7 KOs) to face Sam Eggington (36-9, 20 KOs) for Cutler’s WBC international silver super welterweight title. The opening round saw Culter get inside well and land some nice hooks. Both worked well on the inside and had success with uppercuts and hooks. A cut developed over the right eye of Eggington towards the end of round two.
The third round was a good one for Eggington, who created space well and let his hands go. The fifth round was fairly quiet but caught fire near the end of the round with Eggington getting the better of the exchanges.
Cutler finished round six on top, landing an eye-catching combination. The eighth round saw some smart work again from Cutler, as Eggington appeared to have trouble with the cuts around his eyes. At the beginning of round nine, the ringside doctor instructed the referee to wave the fight off due to the cuts sustained around his eyes. We went to the scorecards and they read: 90-83 and 87-85 x2, all in favour of “The Savage,” who was crowned the new WBC international super welterweight champion.
Frazer Clarke vs Ebaneezer Tetteh
The next fight on the card saw the heavyweights take centre stage with Frazer Clarke (9-1-1, 7 KOs) returning to action against the normally durable Ebenezer Tetteh (23-3, 20 KOs). Clarke started the fight well, taking the centre of the ring. He worked well off his jab, landing a big right hand to knock Tetteh down.
Although the Ghanaian made it to his feet, he was clearly unsteady. Clarke moved in for the finish, landing more heavy shots before the referee stepped in to wave it off. Tetteh was furious with the stoppage and remonstrated with the referee, but it was a good stoppage. A perfect comeback win for “Big Fraze.”
Tyler Denny vs Elvis Ahorgah
Tyler Denny (20-3-3, 1 KOs) faced Elvis Ahorgah (13-4, 12 KOs) in the middleweight division looking to return to winning ways after his crushing defeat to Hamzah Sheeraz. The opening round saw Denny look sharp and be first to the punch. Denny proved elusive during the first two rounds, leaving Ahorgah frustrated, who kept walking forward looking for the big shot.
Ahorgah was on the front foot until the midway point, but Denny boxed smartly, moved well and put his shots together. The Rowley Regis native looked in control at the halfway point. An off-balance Ahorgah was met by a well-timed right hand from Denny in round seven, scoring a knockdown The Ghananian fighter had his best moment in round eight, landing a big right hand, which forced Denny to tuck up and recover.
Despite the best efforts from Ahorgah, Denny just had too much quality and boxed diligently throughout. A professional performance from the Rowley Regis fighter. The referee was the scorer of this 10-round middleweight bout, and his card read 97-92 for Denny. A deserved win.
Elliot Whale vs Lucas Ballingall
In the welterweight division, Elliot Whale (12-0, 8 KOs) faced Lucas Ballingall (18-3, 5 KOs). After a tentative opening round, both had success in the second round, but the more eye-catching shots came from Whale. His bodywork ensured he took that round.
Over the next couple of rounds, Ballingall continued to apply pressure and had some success, but Whale moved well and picked his shots impressively. It was an entertaining eight rounds, with both men maintaining their work rate high throughout. The pressure from Ballingall kept Whale honest until the final bell. The cleaner shots came from Whale throughout, but it went to the referee’s scorecard, which read 79-74.
Bradley Goldsmith vs Troy Coleman
Bradley Goldsmith (12-1, 8 KOs) faced Troy Coleman (14-3-1, 6 KOs) for the midlands area middleweight title, currently held by Coleman. The opening round saw both have success – but the more accurate work came from Goldsmith. The third round saw Coleman have his best moments, but Goldsmith still landed the cleaner work.
The fifth round was impressive from Goldsmith, varying his angles well. Goldsmith seemingly was on the verge of stopping the champion and was dominating him, landing shot after shot, when at the end of the round, Coleman landed an uppercut right on the bell, knocking Goldsmith down, with the referee denying the knockdown.
The seventh round saw Coleman up the pressure and turn the fight around, landing almost at will against Goldsmith, who appeared to have punched himself out during the sixth round. Under a barrage of unanswered punches, the referee stepped in to save Goldsmith. What a turnaround from Coleman, who retains his area middleweight title via a seventh-round stoppage.
Mark Jeffers vs Ricardo Lara
In the opening fight of the night, Mark Jeffers (20-0, 7 KOs) faced Ricardo Lara (24-14-2, 12 KOs) in the super middleweight division. Jeffers started well, mixing his shots impressively and landing several eye-catching blows to the body. A body shot near the end of the opening round scored a knockdown, with the bell saving his overmatched opponent. Early in the second round, the Chorley fighter landed another well-placed shot, knocking Lara down again and sealing the win. A useful stay-busy outing for Mark Jeffers, winning by second-round stoppage.
Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron 2 was an impressive fight card from BOXXER with some memorable fights. Whittaker answered his critics in style, while Frazer Clarke and Sam Eggington shone on the undercard.
