Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) defeated Israil Madrimov (10-1-1, 7 KOs) at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on August 3/4, to win the WBA super welterweight title. Attention quickly turned to what Crawford would do next, with Turki Alalshikh recently revealing to Charlie Parsons on X the only fight he believes “Bud” wants is Canelo Álvarez. The super fight between the two remains a possibility, and Mike Tyson has now revealed his feelings on the potential contest, when appearing on Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast.

Tyson who was ringside for Crawford-Madrimov, for the historic win but wasn’t convinced Madrimov was the right kind of fighter to enhance the Omaha native’s legacy: “I thought [Madrimov] was a tough guy and I’m glad [Crawford] came back the last two rounds. [Madrimov] was very awkward and strong,” Tyson said.

He continued: “Crawford fights anybody. I don’t agree with that because you gotta look good in order for you to not mess up your next fight. If you fight this guy and you don’t look good, the fans are like ‘Ah, I don’t want … he’s not going to look good and win with this guy.”
Iron Mike added: “You got to constantly have fights you know and fight a guy that’s gonna make you look good. The guy’s got to pressure you or something. [Madrimov’s] running around, Crawford’s not used to this kind of movement. Awkward than a motherf—er.”

If Crawford vs. Álvarez happens, it will mean “Bud” moves up two weight divisions in pursuit of greatness. Alalshikh has publically questioned the desire of Canelo to be involved in the biggest fights and it remains to be seen if His Excellency can make this mega fight.
When asked on Logan Paul’s podcast about the possible fight: “I support Crawford and Canelo both but …” Tyson began saying before letting out a shrug and deep sigh.

It was suggested to “Iron Mike” that Canelo vs “Bud” is the fight people want to see: “I don’t think they want to see him fight Canelo,” Tyson said. “You think so? You think they want to see him fight Canelo?”
Paul then answered: “Yeah, for sure” and tacked on, “I think [Crawford] wants to make history.” Following the retort from Logan Paul, Tyson added: “He wants to fight him, too? Well, to make history is worth doing it.”
