Colbert Stops Arboleda To Remain Undefeated

The main event from the “Fightshere” was a fun one as Chris Colbert took on Jaime Arboleda and won by seventh round stoppage to close out the broadcast on Showtime to retain his ranking as WBA interim champion at super-featherweight. 

Colbert went into this one wanting to make a statement and have his name mentioned in the conversation with the others at 130 lbs. and did just that, knocking Ardboleda down repeatedly before referee Steve Willis stopping the contest in 1:22 in the eleventh round.

One thing that Colbert told me about speaking with him before the fight he told me that he expected Arboleda to come in and fight one way and did just that.

A combination that landed flush by Colbert sent Arboleda down in the ninth round.  Arboleda  beat the count and was saved by the bell in the contest.

The eleventh round was the last one as Colbert as Arboleda was sent down twice and seemed out on his feet before referee Willis stepped in and bough this to an end to stay undefeated (15-0, 6 KOs).

98-90 Colbert was the score on all three scorecards at the time of the stoppage. Colbert had a point deducted for low blows but was also a round that he won as well. 

“Primetime” with the win is a name you’d have to mention in any conversation at 130 pounders. Who he’d face now is where the fun begins?

With his ranking in the WBA, the signs would point to a name like Leo Santa Cruz or Gervonta Davis.

But, another hypothetical and one that would be interesting, is Xavier Martinez, who was last seen in action in a tough victory against Clauida Marrero.  We’ll find out who in 2021 but he’s one that you have to keep an eye on.
