Moses Itauma vs Daniel Dubois: Billy Joe Saunders makes his pick
On August 29, at the O2 Arena in London, live on DAZN PPV, Moses Itauma vs Filip Hrgovic headlines a Queensberry Promotions fight card. This heavyweight bout will be for the vacant IBF heavyweight title, after Queensberry reached a deal with Frank Sanchez (IBF number 1 ranked) for him to step aside. Should Itauma defeat Hrgovic, a possible showdown with Daniel Dubois has been mentioned, and Billy Joe Saunders recently spoke on talkSPORT Boxing, revealing who he favours for the potential bout.
Moses Itauma reveals the plan
Before any potential clash with Dubois, Itauma needs to beat Hrgovic to become the IBF champion. But it appears a potential all-British showdown with Dubois is a real possibility. Recently, Itauma spoke to iFL TV and said: “I don’t know if Frank’s going to be happy, but I think he’s going to try and get me and Dubois to collect the belts.”
“Then [we would] unify. That’s the plan, and I’m happy to roll with it. The Dubois fight is on the table. It’s just a matter of timing,” added Itauma.
Itauma vs Daniel Dubois: Billy Joe Saunders has his say
Dubois defeated Fabio Wardley to become the WBO heavyweight champion. They are rumoured to be facing each other again later this year. Should Itauma and Dubois win, an all-British unification showdown would become more likely, but Saunders doesn’t believe Dubois could beat Itauma:
“No, [I don’t give Daniel Dubois a chance against Itauma]. I don’t give any heavyweight, whatsoever, a chance with him,” said Billy Joe.
“People might think that I am crazy. I think that Moses is the best that I have seen since Muhammad Ali,” added Saunders.

The Big Fight Weekend verdict
Moses Itauma has his biggest test yet waiting for him on August 29, against Filip Hrgovic. Dubois looks set to do battle with Wardley once again later this year. Both clearly have big enough tasks in front of them, but a huge Itauma-Dubois unification fight is a mouth-watering prospect.
Moses is a prodigious talent, and it’s easy to see why Billy Joe rates him so highly, but Dubois proved against Wardley that he has the courage, alongside his obvious punching power. It’s a fascinating fight that many would love to see. At Big Fight Weekend, we would pick Itauma, but Dubois is a dangerous fighter, and one that shouldn’t be written off.
