Takuma Inoue vs. Tenshin Nasukawa 2 fight recap
Takuma Inoue (23-2, 5 KOs) overcame a knockdown to defeat Tenshin Nasukawa (8-2, 3 KOs) by unanimous decision.
Scores were 116-111 (x2) and 114-113. Inoue remains the WBC bantamweight world champion with the win. He won the title in November last year in his first bout against Nasukawa. This was Inoue’s second defence.
The opening round saw both men mostly standing at range and feinting. Early on, Nasukawa attempted to land punches from a distance but fell short on a number of occasions. Unlike the first meeting between the pair which saw Nasukawa start strong, it was Inoue who had the stronger start this time.

Inoue got off to a quick start in round five, rattling off a series of shots to the head. At that point in the fight, he was up on two scorecards according to the open scoring system that was in place with one judge having it a draw. Inoue appeared to be the faster of the two, his speed allowing him to catch Nasukawa with shots to the head.
Inoue was dropped early in the seventh by a one-two upstairs. He spent much of the round in a corner of the ring with Nasukawa unloading punches. Inoue was able to stay on his feet for the remainder of the round in spite of the onslaught. He carried on in the eighth as if the knockdown did not happen.

Both men opened up from round 10 until the final bell. Although this caused a number of clinches, it also saw several eye-catching exchanges. Nasukawa attempted to create distance for his punches by pushing his opponent off him with some success. Inoue showed some slick offence in the championship rounds, landing right hand after right hand upstairs. It was a competitive affair, but the reigning champion just had that little bit extra that allowed him to get the win.
Tomoya Tsuboi vs. Ricardo Malajika fight recap
Ricardo Malajika (18-2, 12 KOs) finished strong to win a split decision against Tomoya Tsuboi (3-1, 2 KOs, 1 NC).
Although one judge had it 115-113 for Tsuboi, the other two saw it 116-112 and 115-113 for his opponent. Malajika is now the WBC super flyweight world champion with the win. The title was previously held by Jesse Rodriguez, who vacated it in order to move up to bantamweight.
A clash of heads early in round one caused a cut high on the forehead of Tsuboi, but his corner was able to stem the flow of blood. Both fighters looked for ways to close the distance, but either wound up falling short on their punches or in a clinch. Tsuboi started to find success in round three, catching his opponent with right hooks upstairs. Malajika was not to be discounted, however, as he showed his ability to land clean uppercuts in the fourth.
Another clash of heads in round seven caused a cut above the right eye of Tsuboi, causing him to change his approach. The Japanese fighter pressed forward with a high guard in the eighth. Malajika moved off the back foot, switching stances as he had been doing since the beginning of the fight.
Open scoring was utilized for this contest. After eight rounds, Tsuboi was 77-75 on two of the scorecards with the third having it a draw. Malajika finished strong, using his longer reach to land power punches from a distance. That strong finish ultimately paid dividends as two of the judges had him the victor, making him the newest super flyweight world champion.
