Pierce O’Leary (19-0, 11 KOs) will soon face Mark Chamberlain (17-1-1, 12 KOs) in a 12-round super lightweight clash.

Their bout headlines a Queensberry Promotions card at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. Fight fans around the world can catch the action live on DAZN.

Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their Aug. 1 contest. Below is some of what they had to say.

Pierce O’Leary vs. Mark Chamberlain press conference quotes

Pierce O’Leary

“Listen, it doesn’t matter where you are, there’s nothing like fighting in Dublin,” said O’Leary. “Listen to all your crowd shouting. That’s what you need. When you have the support like that, it’s priceless.”

“No chance [he beats me]. No chance. He’ll want to have a 45 Magnum in his pocket or in his glove to try to walk away with that belt in front of all of yous. No chance that happening. I’m coming for it all.”

Mark Chamberlain

“…Saturday night is another big occasion,” said Chamberlain. “Something that I haven’t not seen before, as in coming to the champion’s back garden and coming to take what’s theirs. It’s the fine definition of I’ve got gloves and I’ll travel. It’s as simple as that. If it makes sense for me, I’ll do that. So whether it may be in another destination or here, but Saturday night brings us to the 3Arena and I’m looking forward to it.”

“We’ve trained hard, no doubt he’s trained hard. We’ve done our homework and we put it in on the night and go from the first bell.”

Fight prediction

From Big Fight Weekend’s Ricky Carroll: O’Leary vs. Chamberlain is an intriguing fight, and one that could be closer than the odds suggest. O’Leary has a strong jab, which he pairs with good footwork to walk his opponent down consistently. He’s a force on the inside, with his body punching standing out. He carries plenty of power, and doesn’t rush his work. He’s shown a nasty side which every fighter needs. His toughness will be tested by the experienced Chamberlain.

Chamberlain is a sharp puncher and carries pop in his work. The Portsmouth fighter remains unflustered under pressure. He’s also an accomplished body puncher, like O’Leary.

Chamberlain is a live threat, but O’Leary appears a special talent, and we are backing “Big Bang” to win a competitive unanimous decision.
