Errol Spence set to face Tim Tszyu on July 25
Errol Spence Jr (28-1, 22 KOs) has not fought since a brutal stoppage loss against Terence Crawford back in 2023. It looked as though two car crashes had really taken their toll on Spence. However, Crawford was punch-perfect, but Spence looked a few punches behind where he was in his prime.
Tszyu (27-3, 18 KOs) has suffered damaging defeats in recent years, but did win last time out against Denis Nurja. Since then, Tszyu has appointed Jeff Fenech as his lead trainer. It remains to be seen if Tszyu’s more recent activity will be the key or if Spence can summon enough of his pound-for-pound skills to make a winning return.
Errol Spence Jr delivers message in Australia
After landing in Australia with his trainer, Ronnie Shields, they were welcomed with a ‘Welcome to Country’ ceremony arranged by No Limit Boxing’s Rose Brothers. Reflecting on his welcome at Sydney Airport, and looking ahead to July 25, Spence Jr said:
“It was dope, man — getting welcomed by the Aborigines as soon as I came out after a long flight,” said Spence after the 15-hour flight from Los Angeles. “I’m happy about it. It woke me up a little bit.
“I’m going to enjoy it a lot down here. It’ll be a dope event. Hopefully when I come out, not everyone will boo me and I’ll put on a great show…I’m the big fish. I’m going to take over his backyard.”
